Prithviraj will now step into the shoes into shoes of Kamal Hassan as the lead actor in the remake of the Tamil blockbuster, Kaaki Chattai. Kamal Hassan played the role of an undercover cop in the original which was produced by Sathya Movies, and directed by the renowned film maker, Rajashehar.

Pramod Pappan will direct the Malayalam remake and Jagadeesh Chandran will produce it under his banner, Kichu Films. Although the polt is similar to the original, Rajesh Jayaram is working on the intricacies of the script to make it relevant to the present time.

Earlier Puri Jaganath had partially replicated the premise of Kaaki Chattai in his Telugu movie, Pokkiri, which was remade in Tamil under the same title and then in Hindi - Wanted.
